Finished chair

Here is the finished chair!!!

Such a great feeling when this chair is finished
couldn't be any happier than this.
First time doing a project in the workshop and been spending few weeks finishing this chair is such a good experience for this semester :)

Some people in the workshop said it looks like an octopus / ant / spider
Yes it does look like a little creature with many legs.
:)

I am happy with the look and the colour as well!

Workshop

Aluminium sheet for the sheet and back rest, a steel sheet will be weld on to the steel tubes

Got my aluminium sheet done laser cut and bend at 95deg angle.

Chop off the back rest a little bit so can be inserted to the original back support.

File the edges so it becomes more smooth and has no sharp edges

Finish to make a hole on the original back support.

Remove the nail and some wood filler inside the hole on the original legs

Fill it up the hole using this coloured wood filler

Here is the result

Adjusting the legs to the steel tubes

All the legs are set up

After powder coating
I chose matt black which have some texture on it so the seat won't be that cold when people sit on it.

I used blind revit to attach the seat and the aluminium sheet underneath the seat.

I used this primer before apply the spray paint

Apply the primer for all the legs

Matt black spray paint for the original wooden back support and legs

The matt black turns out well!

Concept Development

First thought of how the back supports look like. The seat and back supports are made from 20mm acrylic glass which is bent and shaped so there will be some space to enhance the comfortability when people sit on it.

This is the final design of how the back supports will be made. The seat and back supports are from one acrylic glass and bent 98deg, it makes this chair more comfortable since the seat is not flat 90deg. The back supports are designed in that kind of form to enhance the overall aesthetic of this chair.
